I've seen a lot of YouTube videos of birthday spankings, which in many cases were probably not unlike the parents' real spankings (you could tell by the expert way they pinned the kids down). There was a lot of alternating spanks, almost always first on the right cheek (right-handed parents, OTK). An even more common pattern was to give several on the right cheek and then, maybe realizing they should vary, give one or several on the left before returning to the right or maybe alternating. These were of course all short, four to maybe 15 depending on age, and usually wound up with more swats on the right cheek.
