You are right, it certainly was. You talked about getting spanked in the bedroom. It's really funny, with all the spankings I got, very few actually happened in my bedroom. Maybe a couple from mom and one from dad were in my bedroom. Most of the spankings at home were done in the living room or kitchen. Though she did spank me a couple of times in the family room in our basement, or four times I remember in the bathroom and maybe once in her bedroom. My mom believed in spanking our bare butts whenever and where ever she felt it was necessary, including in public. So being taken to the bedroom for a spanking, wasn't a thing with her.

In addition to the one I mentioned at Kroger for stealing.

She spanked me in the car laying down on the front seat with my legs hanging out with the "Cute Little Deer with a Bear Behind" Paddle she just bought at Lincoln's Birthplace.

I got spanked in the car downtown while we were out shopping , I got into a whining jag and she took me to the car to spank me.

Mom literally had dad pull the car over and gave my brother and me a spanking over her knee on the side of the road.

There is a little cafe' in Mammoth Cave and I got a spanking at one of the tables there.

I got spanked over her knee at the city pool in front of everybody.

I got a spanking from her in front of one of my aunt's and a cousin because mom caught me peeking in the door watching my aunt give my cousin a spanking.

I got spankings in front of company including one of my teachers and in front of an exchange student from South Africa who lived with us for a while. (I ended up seeing mom give her a spanking too, but that's another story)

I talked about the spankings I got with my brother and cousins in the parking lot at a Zayre store and then a couple of months later in the shoe department at a Sears in Louisville.

and that's just a few examples. there are plenty more where these came from.
