I remember that feeling of being caught. I know what you mean how the world feels like it’s ending.

I don’t think you necessarily overreacted. It’s normal for kids to cry when caught, and the punishment was pretty severe. I know it was by hand but at 12 an over the knee bare bottom spanking in front of your sister must have been quite humiliating. I definitely would have cried very intensely regardless of the pain.

It’s interesting that she was not asked to leave even though most spankings were given privately. Do you think your mom intended to make the punishment more embarrassing by having your sister present or did it just end up that way because you both happened to be sleeping in the same room?
