She hit way too hard my parents used a paddle as well as a belt my parents was a medium oval paddle it would be similar to a jokari paddle today my boyfriend no husband parents used a ping pong paddle also never bruised my husband or sisters in law bottoms other assistant principals who paddled me in elementary middle or high school never left bruises . The school paddles were standard size made in the school maintenance building and had the school system logo on them . She was promoted quietly at the end of the year to an administrator in the school administration building no contact with students she bruised other students but they wanted to keep it quiet .
