Most of the time when my friends and I play-spanked each other, we were playing House. And it didn't matter if adults were nearby.

If adults saw us I presume they either gave such play no importance or thought it was cute. Of course, no clothing was removed and no actual pain was inflicted.

Spankings for children were well-accepted back in the 60's so no one ever intervened and acted as if our play was inappropriate. We were practicing being future Mommies after all!

There was one special exception. When I was 9 or 10 my family were visiting relatives out of state and I fell in with a group of school-aged children playing in the large yard of a house across the street. Unfortunately I can't remember how this developed, but a girl a couple years younger than me wanted me to play spank her. She didn't want to play House or anything else, just a light, pretend spanking from a somewhat bigger girl.

She led me into an overgrown space behind a dilapidated little shed which was out of view of everywhere. It had a couple ancient wooden steps leading to its back door, with its upper step just right for me to sit on.

It was Summer and she was wearing a short sleeved top and thin shorts. She laid across my lap and I "spanked" her rapidly, like my mother did, but gently because we were only playing make believe. But when I had given her a couple dozen "spanks" and stopped, she motioned to me to keep going. She just wanted me to go on and on "spanking" her and I don't remember her uttering a sound all the while.

Neither of us wanted anyone else, including the other children, to see us playing that way. I couldn't have articulated why I felt so self-conscious about it when I hadn't felt that way when giving or getting previous House spankings, but I did.

It wasn't that I thought we were misbehaving and would be punished if caught. There were just some things you only do in private and this, for some reason, felt like one of them.

I never asked to trade places with her. I sensed that she wasn't interested in giving, only receiving.

Sadly I never saw that girl again. If she had lived next door to my house, we would have played that game a great deal I'm sure!
