The affect on the student being paddled until 7 th grade I took school not that seriously I could get bs and a occasional a I also had a attitude I got referred for back talking a teacher I got a new female Ap who was also the high school girls softball coach i got ber she had a reputation for hard swats she saw me she lectured me on my behavior and my lack of attention to my academics I got 4 hard licks I was bawling and my dad belted me and a three week grounding after that I did not get paddled agian and I made the a honor roll or the a b honor roll and was a member of the national honor society and history and math honor clubs . She called the paddling a spanking but it made a positive difference in my life that detention or suspension would not have on me
