Qn 1: i didnt check in the mirror too often, but did sometimes. Hand spankings left most my bottom red.
Yardstick Dad just seemed to target the centre of my bottom, same for my brothers. It left a single dark stripe across my bottom

Qn 2: tried to be stoic and hold my composure. Thing was Dad has big tradie hands and put them to good use. He smacked super hard, whether hand or yardstick. Always hurt enough to make me cry.

Qn 3: number of whacks varied a lot, depended how bad my offence was. On lesser scale might get away with 5, but if it was top level severity, sometimes copped i guess about 20 whopping big ones
