I wasn’t sure what jackknifed was going to mean before reading. Mine would usually be over a lap, but also on a bed or a couch, so supported that way. Not leg-locked - we were expected to comply by (mostly/eventually) lying in place and not kicking too much. I sometimes inadvertently rolled off though.
