All I can report on are my own personal experiences, and those of my friends. My father never used the corner - then again, mom was the primary disciplinarian, not dad - and my mother; she never spanked without using the corner.

Of my friends, it was about a 50/50 split, when young, however, what I did notice as time passed was that if they were using the corner in conjunction with spanking at six, many were still doing so at sixteen.

And is always the case with life, there was an exception. I had one acquaintance whose mother never spanked, that was his father's duty, however, even in HS she was using corner time, with two variations.

The first was normal corner time in that he was ordered into the corner and ordered to stay there until he was told otherwise. With the, or else, strongly implied.

The second, I was told, as I never witnessed this myself, was corner time with pants and unders at his knees. So that he could, in effect, think of how his father was going to handle him once home.

Now she bragged that she never spanked her son. On the other hand, she never once mentioned that her teenage son's naked teenage butt was often sticking out from a corner. At her command.

Funny how we pick and choose what to say. Is it not?
