Big raising of the stakes came around the time i turned 12 cause i was a real turd of a kid. Was consistently mouthing off, disobeying, getting bad school reports etc and for a couple of years parents were constantly whacking me, but mostly open hand sometimes bathbrush.

Dad i guess just got fed up and decided one of his yardsticks for work would set me straight. Copped a full-on hiding like headmaster might cane a schoolkid, bend over and repeated big whacks.

From that moment on i knew shit was real. Yardstick remained the apex punishment for many years after
