If you live in a place with many uncircumcised boys (outside the US, Israel, and the Islamic world), what types of social norms regarding foreskin retraction existed?
1. Did boys typically retract their foreskins in communal showers?
2. Did foreskin retraction symbolize "increased nudity?" Was retracting the foreskin seen as making a boy appear more naked and exposed to other people?
3. When boys gathered at nude swim meets, did they ever retract their foreskins as a joke?
4. Were there any other social norms regarding touching of penises?

I did because I didn't the clef just behind the head would get all filled up with smegma.
2. Did foreskin retraction symbolize "increased nudity?" Was retracting the foreskin seen as making a boy appear more naked and exposed to other people?
I never gave it much thought, I just washed as I was taught to wash.
I never looked to see if others were watching me retract my foreskin to wash behind the head.
I can't see how retracting the foreskin would make one 'more naked'.

I don't know as I wasn't a swimmer back then, and only heard rumors about nude swimming at swim meets.
I do know that sometimes when friends of mine and me went skinny dipping in the farmer's pond I would sometimes retract my foreskin to look like my friends but not at all times.

I don't know about "social norms regarding touching of penises', but I can tell you that there were times when a friend would swim underwater and grab me or other friend's penises, and it just seemed natural do do likewise to them as they surfaced and they still had mine in their hand laughing.
It wasn't a big deal like it might be today, you just gave what you got done to you....no harm done.

I don't know of any social norms regarding foreskin retraction, but I remember being on a beach in France and getting sand down my foreskin and it stinging like crazy, and sitting on my mothers lap while she retracted my foreskin as far as it would go and washed the sand/salt off with a cup of water from the beach shower while I cried.
It wasn't deemed unacceptable or weird Indonesia think.
