Thank you so much for sharing this—your response truly warmed my heart. It’s incredibly affirming to hear that another family cultivated such a similar rhythm, one rooted not in spectacle or defiance, but in quiet normalcy and care. Reading about your boys taking off their clothes at the door, sipping hot cocoa while unwinding from the day, brought back such vivid memories—those golden hours after school when shedding my uniform felt less like a chore and more like a return to myself.

It’s remarkable how such a simple act—removing clothes—can become a ritual of reclamation, a daily homecoming. And your approach echoes my own childhood so closely. Like your sons, weekends for me were almost entirely clothes-free. Rain or shine, snow dusting the garden or summer heat rippling off the pavement, the house was a sanctuary where clothing simply wasn’t required unless we were stepping outside its boundaries. There was something deeply grounding about that separation: outside had rules, expectations, eyes. Inside had warmth, freedom, honesty.

I especially related to your mention of going out. That was me too. If I had a friend’s birthday party or a trip to the cinema, I’d slip into a loose T-shirt and shorts, but go barefoot, always. No socks, no shoes—just the feel of the ground under me, a small but potent reminder of the freedom I’d left behind at home. Walking into a public space like that, unshod and unburdened, I never thought of it as strange. It was simply an extension of who I was when no one was watching. And I realize now how rare and precious that continuity was—never having to split myself between "inside me" and "outside me."

It is comforting to know others grew up the same way. After school or sports my routine was to enter house by back door and undress and put dirty clothes in hamper where we stored fire wood and kept washer and dryer. My sister would change too but she would put on clothes but my mom wanted me to grow up naked until I left home, as she said it was btter for boys. I did not object as neighborhood boys did same thing back then, well not all but several.

I never really object as I saw other boys do same thing. I would even go over to other boys houses naked when young.

Twice a year we would go camping in a large park. I would walk to showers in morning naked and swim naked all day. I loved going there and hated to leave.

When I was 9 I remember getting home after a very muddy game of football and my mother making me stand in the kitchen and remove all of my clothes while my girl cousin sat on a chair just watching lol.

That sounds like a wonderful childhood Ryan, your mother was very sensible. At what age did you move out from home? At what age did you stop going to other boys' houses naked?
