Maybe he's up for re-election. If he's facing a challenger who doesn't hold such an isolationist position, maybe his challenger will be a willing news source. Maybe one or more of the swimmers pose nude for an art class. If their artwork is displayed outside the community, they could get publicity whether the sheriff wants it or not. A psychological research team could get curious. They could come in, expecting the team members to suffer irreparable trauma, but discovering just the opposite. After one of the swim meets, there are pictures taken at the wieners' box--I mean the winners' box. One or more of those pictures might leak out of the community. One of the nude swimmers could become engaged either to one of the girl swimmers or one of the girls watching in the bleachers. She has seen him countless times, but he won't see her until the night of the honeymoon. They consider themselves the happiest couple in the world, and they want the rest of the world to know about it. There is a little boy who thinks one of the boys on the swim team is the cat's pajamas. He wants to be a nude swimmer, just like his older brother/his cousin/his next-door neighbor. He walks out into Red Cross swim class with no swimsuit on, much to the affectionate giggling of the mommies in the bleachers. He influences the other boys in the class, until the swim class comes to look like a miniature version of the high school swim class. This makes a cute story, and the staff at the Red Cross knows it. So they share the story with the rest of the world, whether the sheriff wants to "take care of [their] own" or not. Does the swim team play against neighboring schools? If the boys' teams in the neighboring schools wear swimsuits, the mommies and the girl classmates might get irate because THEIR boys wear swimsuits. Those mommies and girl classmates might have a lot to say to the reporter. As it says in Matthew 10:23, "But when they persecute you in this city flee ye into another." However, the boys were busy and active. The girls still did not get a leisurely view. Furthermore, when someone was looking at a boy’s boy parts, he usually did not know about it. The team to which Brodrick (2023, Voy 223876) belonged decided to do something about it. I'll hand it over to Brodrick: "In New Mexico the tradition I remember was in Junior High where the females were allowed in the locker room after the meets. The boys dared each other to remain naked in front of the girls entering the locker room. We called it the "New Mexican Standoff" letting the girls look at all we had. It was embarrassing, I will admit that much! We just waited until the girls started to enter the locker room before getting in the shower. I guess they felt we were totally exposed as we swam, what harm could be done. What they didn't realize was it was way more intense being one on one or two or three on one opposed to being one of many at poolside. "We went so far as to let the girls get extremely close and stare at anything they wanted to see. Some girls actually sat on the bench as we stood beside them for 15 to 20 minutes. They caught a really good look-see at male genitals! "Some of the boys into puberty were out of control and leaked some, causing more girls to want to watch. A few times a boy would lose it and squirt. That only happened once while I was there but it was talked about for years after. "I always wanted to experience the same thing only with the girls nude! I knew the emptiness I felt being that exposed to the girls and wondered how it felt from their side getting to see everything out in the open like that!"
