Back when I was a competitive swimmer in the mid-70s, this shaving ritual was just part of the routine. After the heavy glass doors of the local swim club were locked and the last recreational swimmers had cleared out, the eight of us gathered in the echoey, humid locker room for our monthly ritual. Because the regional club rules of the time still mandated that we compete entirely nude to ensure maximum hydrodynamics and pool hygiene, the pre-meet shave-down was a total-body requirement. After the girls performed a final, tactile inspection to ensure every inch was glass-smooth, we took a final group shower, our bodies feeling raw, electric, and brimming with pent-up energy, fully prepped for the frictionless speed of the meet the next morning.
