Throughout history pre teen and teenage boys have always had spaces where they could be naked with other boys there age (swimming hole, boy scout campouts, showers after gym class, sports) and while not officially acknowledged, I believe these spaces have served as an unofficial outlet to satisfy natural pre teen and teen curiosity about bodies.

For the first time (at least in the U.S.) these spaces are pretty much all gone. Hell, boys even shower after sports in swimsuits now. Without a way to satisfy these curiosities I fear a lot of males will get stuck in that early exploratory phase and carry problematic desires and behaviors into adulthood. It's a fact that many of histories most notorious criminals were isolated during their pre teen and early teenage years and being unable to explore with other boys in their peer group had a direct relation to their later behavior.

If boys are curios they will find places to satisfy what they are curios about, and explore with other boys in their peer group.

It could be as easily accomplished as with a sleepover.

Hello, Bob!

And thank you for contributing to the forum!
I am also concerned about the Puritanical lifestyle to which the current generation is being subjected.
My upbringing wasn't as bad as what we see now, but it was bad enough.

At least this generation can get all the nasty pictures they want on the Internet.

You may say, "But a surrogate isn't as good as the real thing."

I agree.

Hi Scamptoo,
Thank you for responding to my post. While I see your point, I am going to have to disagree with you. I would argue that the most vulnerable boys in this situation are the ones that come from families with very controlling parents. In these houses, sleepovers likely include random checks with parents popping into the kids bedroom unannounced or even demands that doors be kept open. This leaves little time/space for comfortable exploration. In these families, kids would likely also be only allowed to sleep over houses where the friends parents have similar policies and frames of thought. They may even be limited as to who they are allowed to associate with during the day.

I would argue these kids NEED exposure to public spaces where they can be nude with other boys away from the control of otherwise domineering parents. Despite a desperate desire they have been programmed in such a way that they will only engage in this behavior if they feel safe, out of reach of such controlling parental figures and are signaled to by other boys that such behavior is ok. In the past the public spaces allowed this to happen naturally for kids with even the worst type of controlling parents; However, I fear in the current society (At least in the USA) these kids will fall through the cracks.
