When I was a kid we lived in a very rural area on a dirt / gravel road. My father had the farm on one side of the road he had inherited from his own father. Across the street our neighbors had a much larger farm that ran down to the creek that runs through our valley, and continued as woodland some ways beyond up the side of the next ridge. I was an only child, but our neighbors had seven kids, five boys and two girls. Their youngest boy is my best friend. Down the valley a ways our other neighbors had three kids, two girls and a boy. In the summer we would all swim naked in the creek, boys and girls, and nobody thought much about it.

That was the best of those years: nobody gives a shit about how the children enjoyed their life. Lucky us.(I born in 1958)
