Hello, my name is Josh and I'm 12 years old, I hope I'm welcome here. I'm looking for some advice. The weather is so hot right now where I live, so I've been spending a lot of time in just my underwear, but even then I get all gross and sweaty. I really want to try going naked instead, just inside the house, but I'm scared to ask my parents. I don't think they're prudes, but it's just a bit embarrassing I guess. I found this place on Google and have been reading all the stories here about kids going naked during the summer, but they're all from so long ago! I don't know any kids my age who spend time naked, so it's nice to know I'm not weird I guess. I've started going naked in my room, but I don't know how to ask my parents if I can go naked around the whole house. Does anyone have any advice? Or should I just do it and see what they say? And I guess another problem is that I would still feel a bit embarrassed being naked in front of them, even though I know I want to be naked. Is that normal?

I suggest that you discuss this with your parents and not just surprise them all of a sudden by going naked.
Just explain your reasons to them as you explained it here to us.

Josh, I agree with what Mr Scamptoo has advised. I think your parents will be fine about it, and you’ll feel good about going ahead.

Hi Josh, I'm Liam, the group admin.
Thanks for wanting to share your concerns. I'm glad you felt comfortable sharing your thoughts. First of all, you're not weird for feeling this way! Many people feel uncomfortable or nervous asking their parents certain questions, especially when it comes to personal topics like this. And you're absolutely right: it's totally normal to feel embarrassed about being naked around family members. Many people feel this way, even as they get older.
Regarding your question about being naked at home, it's important to keep in mind that every family has different rules and boundaries regarding privacy and comfort. Since you're not sure how your parents might react, the best way to approach this is honestly. Perhaps you can start by talking to them in a casual way that you feel comfortable with. You could say something like, "Hey, with it being so hot, I've been thinking I'd feel more comfortable spending time at home without clothes on. What do you think?" This gives them a chance to share their thoughts and opens up a conversation without feeling too intense or awkward.
Feeling embarrassed in front of your parents is very common. Even if you want to be naked, it can be awkward at first, especially if you're used to wearing clothes around them. Over time, it may become more natural, but it's okay to take it slow and discover what feels most comfortable to you.
If you ever feel unsure or uncomfortable in a situation, it's okay to stop and think about how you feel. Your feelings matter, and it's good to make sure you act in a way that respects both your personal comfort and the boundaries of the people you live with.
Take care of yourself, and don't hesitate to come back if you want to talk more or ask anything else! When you talk to your parents, you could let them know so we can see how it went.

Thank you Liam (and everyone else) for the encouragement and kind words. I've been thinking it over the last few days and I think I'll ask my parents soon. I'll let you all know what they say.

I'm glad our tips helped you. I wish you luck in asking your parents. If you want to discuss anything more personally, you can contact me at my trillian: Liam_Cruz.

Hi, I'm 14 and I have the opposite problem: my parents often leave me naked at home (and not just at home) during the summer. I tried talking to my parents, but their response was, "You're still a kid, you have nothing to hide."

Your parents are right in that you have nothing to hide from them as they have seen you naked before if they have had you naked in the house in the summers before.
I doubt that you have changed physically from one year to the next.

My problem isn't being seen naked by my parents: I'm never embarrassed with them. My problem is being naked in front of guests.

I see your point.
But I'm sure that you look just fine to them guests.
Have any of them said anything to you about you being naked?
Besides, all males have the same equipment so you have nothing that others haven't seen before.

No guest who's ever caught me naked has ever complained about my nudity, since I'm still a child. They usually make embarrassing comments, though.

I didn't mean that the guests would complain about you being naked.
What I meant, by what I said, is that they wouldn't pay very much attention to you being naked.
I don't like that any of them made embarrassing comments about you being naked.

Matteo that sounds rough, I'm sorry. So are you naked every day?

Yes, Josh, most of the time I spend at home in the summer, I'm naked. At my grandparents' and uncles' houses, I'm often naked. At the beach, like today, I'm always naked from the moment we arrive until we leave.
