Hi Anon,
I agree with Matteo; you were very brave and a good son in helping your mom. Especially since, as you wrote to Matteo, it was the first and only time you'd been naked, so you weren't used to the beach or the lake.
I don't know if I would have allowed my kids to do something like that. I would have had a lot of doubts and concerns. Was the photographer a professional or an amateur? Did she allow your mom to be on set while the shots were being taken, or was it just you and the photographer?

She wasn't a professional photographer but she used to take photos of rural scenes for a hobby.

Okay, that seems more acceptable to me.
Unfortunately, there are unpleasant situations today that perhaps weren't so widespread 30 years ago (in 1994). The photos could end up on shady websites, and I wouldn't want my children to be the subjects of these photos. What you're describing, however, is fine.
Perhaps then I would have allowed my children to do it.
Since you'd never been naked, you were very brave.
Weren't you embarrassed to be naked in front of the photographer? Also, the photos would have been sold and therefore seen by other people, not just the photographer and your mother... Didn't that embarrass you? Did she leave you a copy of the photos that you kept as a memento of the experience?

I have not seen any of the photos since she showed me them. She developed them herself.
All three were auctioned to three separate people and she produced one copy of each one for her own album, just as she did every other photo she took.
I was embarrassed, yes, but she made it as easy as she could.

I'm increasingly convinced you did the right thing. It seems to me everything was handled correctly. I think if the conditions were right, I'd let my children do the same.
And then again, this was 1994, a calmer time than today. If you were 10 years old today, would you make the same choice? Have you ever regretted it?
Can I ask what poses he made you stand in? Did you have any objects (guns, hats, animals, fruits in your hands) or were you bare, like Greek statues?

It was an older lady. They were really simple poses. I was standing with a tall Carver chair behind me for two of them. One was directly facing her and one standing slightly to the side. The first was with me holding the chair facing with my back to her.
I would probably feel ok to do the same again if I was nine now.
