Hi everyone. Today I've stumbled upon an unusual sight.

After leaving my workplace and heading towards home I decided to go to the store and make some grocery shopping. While en route to the store I spotted a mom with a boy about 6-7 years old emerging from around the corner.
It was a pretty usual situation, but what made it unusual was the way the boy was dressed. He was dressed in blue t-shirt with some red text and grey panties with firetrucks printed all over them! Oh it was so cute I thought I'm going to melt at spot! I was struck! ...And I immediately thought about Matteo. ;)

I was also surprised, because I don't know if I would dress my kids like that for a city walk. The street was pretty crowded but thankfully no one said anything to the mom.

How about you? Would you dress your children is such attire? Or if you're a child would you be comfortable dressing like that around the city?

Well, yesterday I was embarrassed to walk in my underwear on the seafront; I certainly wouldn't want to do that in the city. But you said he was a 6- or 7-year-old: at that age, I probably did it without thinking. Last year, my little cousin, at 7, walked around Venice in his shoes and underwear.
And he was perfectly at ease.

Well, kids that young tend to feel better the less they wear - especially during terrible heatwaves. I think your cousin would feel even better walking around Venice without his underwear. And something tells me you would too. ;)

At 7? I don't think so. ;)

Sweetie, even if, hypothetically speaking, you were to walk around Venice right now then you shouldn't be ashamed. After all, you're not in puberty yet - there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of but everything to be proud of. And a nice and happy trip to enjoy. ;)

I find walking around Venice completely naked almost impossible. The police or traffic wardens would stop you almost immediately and force you to get dressed. But Eliza is absolutely right: "After all, you're not in puberty yet - there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of but everything to be proud of."
If there weren't so many puritanical people and laws in Italy, you'd do it. Walking around Venice completely naked would be great (not just you, but all prepubescent children, especially boys, should do it).

I'd only do it if all the kids were naked. Like today: I saw only 3 or 4 kids in swimsuits; all the others were naked, so everyone was equal.

Absolutely. As I wrote before, "not just you, but all prepubescent children, especially boys, should be naked."

Here are a couple of theories of mine:

Mothers of boys want their boys to go naked as much as possible.
They not only want girls to see their boys naked,
they even want their boys to walk up to girls naked, introduce themselves, and become acquainted.

Mothers of girls, on the other hand, may or may not want their girls to go naked,
but mainly, they want their girls to see as many naked boys as possible.
Moreover, they want naked boys to walk up to their daughters, introduce themselves, and become acquainted.

Both of these drives are perfectly normal,
becuase they both serve an evolutionary function.

Lucia, do you agree?
Eliza, do you agree?
