 Sweetie it's funny you mentioned your Grandma buying that hairbrush. My Momma has a matching set with a hairbrush, comb and a hand mirror that she's had since since she was a girl. That hairbrush was made of wood and had a flat back which my brother, sister and I felt on our bare butts on more than a few occasions. But she would also spend sometimes hours brushing my sister and my hair with that brush. Which I dearly loved and I would return the favor. It was much more than a disciplinary tool, it was something we literally bonded over.

When I was pregnant with my oldest boy, Momma took me maternity shopping. In addition to the clothes and shopping for cribs and so forth, we looked at other things as well and in the Health and Beauty section, I was looking at some grooming sets and I saw a set just like hers with the brush, comb and matching mirror. She decided I had to have it, picked it up and put it in my cart. When we got back to the house after lunch and some more shopping, she helped me bring everything in and she took the mirror and brush set out of the bag and opened it. She picked up the hairbrush and said, "It's time to break this in Baby Girl". I was curious about what she meant by that. Surely she wasn't thinking about spanking me, I was twenty-one, married and very pregnant." I finally said, "Momma are you gonna spank me?" She laughed at me and said, "Of course not Baby Girl. You're a grown woman and you're carrying my Grandbaby. I'm gonna brush your hair." Then she told me to sit down in front of my vanity and she proceeded to brush my hair for nearly an hour. If I was a cat I would have been purring. That hairbrush has been used for a few bare butt spankings in the last couple of years for both boys and my younger daughter. But mostly it's been used for brushing hair. Both of my Daughters and my Grandbaby love having their hair brushed with it.

Just thought I'd share that.
