Date Posted: 17:57:50 04/06/26 Mon In reply to: Eric 's message, "Family Heirlooms" on 15:56:40 04/06/26 Mon I'm sorry, but this may off topic since it doesn't involve spankings. but you asked about Heirlooms. My Momma and Aunt were raised in a very abusive household but their Momma, (My granny) She herself was a victim of a very brutal upbringing by her Father who was a Hellfire and Brimstone Baptist Minister and her Momma. There were five kids and Granny was the oldest girl. Long story short, their Daddy would beat them naked with belts or any reason whatsoever and would whip then on the back butts and legs till they were black and blue. Their Momma was almost as bad whipping them with switches sometimes until she drew blood. Granny was forced into a marriage to an older man who was a deacon in their church. She didn't really love him but she did what she was supposed to do. He was killed in a work related accident when My Momma was a little girl and my Aunt was a baby. She never remarried. She raised them alone and was super strict with them and would sometimes whip them with switches until she drew blood. Momma still has a couple of scars on her butt and legs from those whippings. Momma met and fell in love with Daddy when they were in school He was sixteen and she was fifteen. Granny forbade them to be together because Daddy was brought up Methodist and not Baptist. She would whip hell out of Momma for seeing him. After Daddy turned eighteen he asked Momma to marry him. She said, yes. When she told Granny she was getting married. Granny grabbed a belt and made Momma undress, Momma told her, "if you're gonna whip me Momma you'd better make it a good one, because its the last one you'll ever give me. t Then whipped her back and butt so bad she was she was black and blue. Momma got dressed and went to her room and started packing her suitcases. Aunt Cassie saw the bruises and started crying and Momma told her I'm leaving right now, Pack your bags I'm taking you with me." My Aunt also started packing. As they started to leave, Granny blocked the door with the belt in her hand again. Momma told her to move or she'd knock her on her ass. So Granny stepped aside and let them leave telling them they were Whores and would burn in hell. So they left and walked the five miles to Daddy's parent's house. When they got there, Daddy's parents took them in and took care of them. Momma loved them both but especially Grandpa Paul. She called him Daddy Paul. He was one of the most wonderful men I knew. I remember him so well he'd take me on horseback rides and fishing and if I got into any trouble he'd "fuss" at Momma telling her, "Now little girl, don't you be spanking that baby. She's little now but she'll learn." I remember a little about Grandma, especially baking cookies for me when we'd visit and this beautiful old music box she had. She died of cancer when I was two. Grandpa Paul in spite of losing the love of his life, was always very upbeat and loving. He'd get that music box out and sit me up on his lap and rock me while listening to it and watching the little ballerina in it. Even though I was a tomboy, I loved the ballerina. What we didn't know is Grandpa was also sick and he hid that from us until almost the end. He died in his own bed with Momma and Daddy, My Uncle (Daddy's brother) with him. He had everybody leave the room and had me come in to talk with him. I crawled up in the bed with him and he asked me to do him a big favor. He told me, "I'm about to go to be with your Gramma and before I go, I've got something I want you to keep for me." Then he had me get the music box and wind it up. We watched the dancer and he told me the story about how he bought that when he and Grandma got married as a wedding present He talked about her being named Sonya, which is where my name came from. He told me, Marie talked to me in a dream last night, and she told me she wants you to take good care of this for her. Can you do that for me Baby Girl?" I told him yes I'd take good care of it. He put his arms around me and said, "Give me some sugar baby." I kissed him he told me he loves me and then he told me to run along and sent the grown ups in. I told him I loved him too and kissed him again. Then I walked out of the room with the music box playing. The adults went back into his bedroom to sit with him. Then a few minutes later I heard Momma crying. She and I were both heartbroken. I've kept that music box ever since. We have a room in the Attic we call the Treasure Room. It's filled with toys and our first Christmas Tree fully decorated. Grandma's Music Box is on a table that came from Gramma and Grandpa Paul's house in that room. I go up there and wind it up to listen to it at least two or three times a week. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
