Yes legs rolled back. I've always hand spanked first as that is how it was done when I was a young girl. Yes, perhaps it is less stingy initially and it does lead to a spanking that takes longer to give.

Tim gets spanked more than my daughters. He doesn't seem to go more than 2 or 3 weeks without one.
