Surprisingly I don't recall any spankings in our family growing up. The closest is when we were staying at one of the resorts at Disneyworld. I was walking with my mother outside one of the rooms and there were the unmistakable sounds of a kid getting it. Mom said "Let that be a warning too you!"

I will say as Mom myself, I will not hesitate to spank if we are on vacation and it is needed.

When I was growing up aunt gave us one of those joke paddles . At the time Mom said she did not believe in mixing humor and discipline. Dad spanked with it but Mom rarely. Us kids all thought her hairbrush was worse anyway. lol
