Looking back at my own school experience, I remember my teachers referring to me as "chatty" on more than one report card. When it became a prime topic at a parent-teacher conference, I did get a spanking from my mom. I don't think it occurred to her to add ivory soap to my punishment, but mom didn't mind washing my mouth out for bad language or lying.

It's worth considering for my extremely social 11 year old, who takes after me in many ways.
