Subject: oh goodness

Dear girls,

Well, it's been a while since i wrote. That is in part because my grandfather passed away last week and I went to the funeral Monday in Chicago. It has been very hard. I miss him a lot and it seems as if an era is over in the Maiman clan. Yes, my Grampy was the Maiman patriarch. I'm not quite sure what will happen to our family now-we'll just have to look forward to weddings as a way to reunite.
The sadness of my Grampy passing was interestingly coupled with the happiness of having el secondhand stay with me last week. i got to go to the studio twice and listen to what they were recording...and I can honestly say that i can't wait to get the CD! You guys will be amazed at how much different this CD sounds from their previous work (except maybe maria, she should know all about it). It was much fun to hang out with them-evn if they did leave a strange odor in my basement...
I am going camping this weekend, although I probably won't be there until Saturday sometime. It's so wierd to think that as of yesterday we have been out of school for exactly one year! I watched my commencement video the other day from kenrick's party...funny but sad. I'm so excited to see all of you. As meso said, going out into the real world has made me realize how blessed I was to have found the friends that I did in college-most people seem to either be ignorant or an asshole. I thank my stars that I can look back on my four years and know that even if I had problems, they were four of the bestyears of my life. I have at least one memory of each of you that I think of when I'm down. nana talking to me about the ways of the world, liz dancing to "Freebird," Amy doing her "yellow cake and chocolate frosting" dance, driving with Meso to get our cap and gowns, dancing with Maria to Prince (although I'm sure many of us have that memory!), and seeing myself in bathrobe and towel plastered around campus thanks to our dear friend Julia. yet, I have memories from this year too. nana falling of the rope swing, going to ween with amy, liz and my backyard, driving around NY looking for a parking spot with Jules, mardi gras with maria and meso, etc. So it is a circle-though im not sure what liz was refering to with walker texas ranger. So late for class, but wanted to let you all know that I love you and cna't wait to see your smiling faces again.
