Quite honestly, this is a fireable offense. Even to an outsider, it seemed strange that NU would be playing in the same Youngstown State event with such a short turnaround (2 years). Didn't anybody in the Athletic Department have the awareness to ask themselves, "Are we allowed to do this?" This doesn't just impact Niagara. The other 3 schools are impacted too. I'm sure none of the 3 are thrilled about being forced to play a Division II opponent they didn't want to play. If you're the Niagara AD, then you get in front of a camera within the next 24 hours and take full responsibility for this mistake. Don't hide behind the curtain. Don't issue a press release. Especially not the esteemed Youngstown State event. You have a young coach who didn't know. Probably should have. His manager, the AD should have known for sure, he didn't. Greater concern I guess is if they don't know things like this are there are other things that could be more problematic that are happening that are not known. It is interesting no one at the host event knew this rule either and allowed NU to play in it. Now Utah is coming all that way and has one less opponent. NU has 2 less games.
