So who deserves the biggest apology from this board? (Thinking all 3 deserve some sort of apology from some who either currently post or who used to.)
1.). Joe Mihalich who despite a 57% winning percentage over 15 years, 2 NCAA bids and 3 NIT bids was criticized by some on this board because Niagara was not Gonzaga (despite Gonzaga having 4x the basketball budget)
2.) Jada Pierce who was ripped by nearly everyone on this board who leads Niagara into only their 2nd MAAC championship game today and led Niagara to its first ever WNIT last year.
3.) Chris Casey who had only one winning season in 6 at Niagara but was left with a bare cupboard when he was hired who by most accounts has done a fantastic job at Fairfield after inheriting the job after a scandal. Leads the Stags into the championship game today

The answer to this is a no brainer…..takes no thought at all.

JOE MIHALICH

I would say Jada is a very distant 2nd.

Casey doesn’t deserve any apology. See where Casey is after this current group is graduated. He’s not a good coach….he does well with inherited teams (like he did at CW Post) and wasn’t given that here (Maher miscalculated kicking JAM out)

The best basketball athletes I ever saw in a Niagara uniform were coached by Joe.

I never criticized JAM while he was coach of Niagara, in fact I was one of his biggest supporters, so no apology from me needed. Also, never criticized Jada...as for Chris Casey I threw him under the bus quite a bit but he deserved it. What he's done at Fairfield this year doesn't get him off the hook, but I'm glad to see it happen - I hope the Stags go dancin'.

Cassy drove Tajere McCall away from Niagara and still the only NU player to make the pros in this century.
He had Scott,Dukes, and Prochet who are clearly miles better than anybody GP has now.
The idiot here who has several times called for Gp to be fired deserves to give GP an apology.

GP is 67-78 in 5 seasons and will lose most of his roster to graduation. If his name was John Doe everyone would be calling for a change. Just because the guy played at Duke doesn't automatically make him a successful coach. He's yet to show he is.

Well if you look at the product and not just record—Paulus isn’t a Joe Mihalich but he’s better than a Chris Casey. He’s still young by Head Coach standards.

The big question you have to ask is, given current resources/investment, are you going to do any better. The answer to that is “NO”. Paulus has them competitive with no major issues.

This was a weak team and played .500. He isnt staying because of his background. Casey on the other hand was awful and stayed too long.

And we got him because the first coach we hired was fired in disgrace after a sex scandal

Let’s face it. Most of the posters on this board hated and still hate Casey. What was his sin? He followed the Saint Joe. How dare he! Of course, Joe left for more fertile grounds ( money) and took quite a few players with him, leaving bare cupboards for Casey. You all know you never accepted or even tried to give Casey a chance. Now I questioned some of his game decisions, but he brought in some pretty fine talent. I enjoyed watching Prochet, Scott, Dukes, Robb, Hammond, etc. Unfortunately, the wins didn’t add up like we wanted, but Casey is a decent man. Yeah, he’s owed an apology by a lot of you. But you won’t be able to see it. Watch Caine’s Mutiny.

Joe was pushed out at NU, not "leaving for more money". He read the room, took a good opportunity and several of his players left as well.
Look at Casey's record at NU. Abominable. Historically awful. So, apologies? I think not. He deserves every bit of criticism he got.
Now, JAM? He took a program that had nothing going for it for over 20 years and took it to the NCAA's twice.
While most of us were enjoying the unprecedented success, there were 4-5 idiots constantly bemoaning why we couldn't be better. So, as "a board" goes, yeah, that was preposterous that supposed NU fans couldn't enjoy the ride.
Casey never accomplished anything at NU so how could the posters here do anything but be honest about the incompetence.
Makes no sense to even compare the two. I doubt Casey will win at Fairfield either. He took over this team. Let's see if he can maintain it.

You see, you missed the point. I didn’t compare Joe with Casey, I merely said that you never accepted Casey because he wasn’t Joe. Your post proved my point.

Reading comprehension problem?
My post outlined that one coach led the team to unparalleled success and was maligned by some posters. The other led the team to the exact opposite and was maligned, and deservedly so.
You should reap what you sow.

Well Casey (were his players his recruits?) lost and Jada lost so maybe we don't only owe an apology to anyone. JAM made the best decision he could make.

Nobody deserves an apology!

Not so sure you blame coaching for poor shooting. Fatigue maybe but not coaching.

No apologies to loser Casey who just proved it again. Every guy mentioned in LoveNu's post is miles better than what GP has had. Casey was a good recruiter who wasted talent with his horrible game decisions.

Isn’t recruiting part of a coach’s job? You also proved my point. What if Casey wins the MAAC and gets into the Dance?

I see Fairfield lost in MAAC final. Fairfield shot 35% and 20% from the arc. Meanwhile, St Pete shot over 50% and over 40% from the arc. Can you imagine how poorly Casey coached to have his team shoot so poorly? Surely poor shooting is all on the coach and not the guys wearing the short pants.
