No, they basically did away with it because they wanted to control where all the money came from and where it went. Not that it was being spent illegally, but when they saw that for instance, back in the day when other basketball coaches had the use of cell phones while NU did not, the Boosters supplied the funding for the phones so the coaches didn't have to look for pay phones on recruiting trips. We were not allowed to support the teams independently.

We also used to feed BOTH teams food after the games. I mean the visiting team as well by providing pizza and soft drinks either in a Booster room that we had available to us or in the individual teams locker rooms if requested.

They put the kabash on little niceties like that so now they collect all the money and decide what to do with it themselves.

Purp- that sounds super cool. Was not aware of that. Seems like a thing they should have kept. Were you able to interact with the teams and coaches (both home and away) when they ate? You probably were involved in the hey day?

The bigger question is...why does a D1 sports school need $2000 in "donations" to get a meal to a team? This seems pretty insane. There isn't just a check that can be written to a local restaurant?

This was my point in my NIL post. Schools need money to pay kids to play for their school, likely for a year, but dont have money to get a meal for two teams to celebrate a great season?

Crazy.
