In the old days, if you got into the NIT (when it was 2nd best), you played the game. That was pride in your school, a chance to continue the season, and for players to be rewarded. Everybody was IN.

Today, the NIT isn't anything, it means nothing to the schools, no pride, not up to their standards, waste of money, the portal looms daily, and there is no allegiance nor respect for the history of the school. Games are played all over the country.

If it means nothing to the teams that can most afford to be there, every tournament after the NCAA should be just forgotten about and allowed to go away with a whimper.

What's the point for schools like NU who have to raise money for spaghetti and meatball dinners to honor their athletes?

There’s no respect for anything today. It use to be a big deal to get an NIT invite. We old geezers loved It when Niagara got an invite. Like everything else they’ve ruined basketball. Joe, at least we have fond memories of how it use to be.

Yep, and it's gone forever.
