Here's an article from last summer:

https://www.madehoops.com/made-society/articles/2026wingrueyrueyshinesatshayokshowcase.aspx

In a weekend filled with top-tier talent from across the country, few players made a louder statement on Day One at the Shayok Showcase in Ottawa than Ruey Ruey, a 6-foot-6 wing from Massanutten Military Academy (VA) and a rising name in Canada’s Class of 2026.

From the moment warmups began, Ruey showed he wasn’t there to blend in. Before the first drill, he casually called out, “Windy first try,” and moments later, he backed it up with a thunderous windmill dunk during the 3-man weave. That energy, confidence, and flair set the tone for what would become one of the most impressive individual performances of the entire event.

Ruey's biggest highlight, however, came during the shooting portion of the combine. He buried 20 of 25 shots from beyond the arc, showing off a smooth, repeatable stroke with range and rhythm. It wasn’t just streak shooting—his form, balance, and footwork were consistent, even under pressure and fatigue.

While Ruey is currently playing his high school ball at Massanutten and suiting up with Commonwealth Basketball Group on the grassroots circuit, it’s clear that his time competing in American prep leagues like the Elite Prep League has helped mold him into a well-rounded and college-ready prospect. He looks more confident with the ball in his hands, has improved his defensive reads, and continues to grow into his frame—bringing a rare mix of polish and upside.

His showing in Ottawa earned him a Division I offer from Canisius, which joins an already solid list that includes NJIT, Arizona State, and Siena. The fact that multiple programs are now moving early to lock in Ruey is no surprise—he checks a ton of boxes for coaches evaluating wing prospects: size, shooting, athleticism, and charisma.

It’s easy to see how Ruey’s momentum could snowball over the next year. As a Canadian in the 2026 class playing in the U.S., he’s carving out a pathway for himself not just through exposure, but with execution. If he continues to perform like this, expect a flurry of additional offers before his senior year begins.

From windmills in drills to scorching shooting stretches, Ruey Ruey didn’t just show up—he showed out. And based on what we saw at the Shayok Showcase, he’s only scratching the surface

Bio
2026 Canadian Wing Ruey Ruey: Elite 6-5 PG Rising Fast at Massanutten Military
Ruey Ruey, a versatile 6-5, 180-lb Canadian Class of 2026 point guard at Massanutten Military Academy (VA), dazzles with elite size for his position, ranking No. 320 nationally (82.67 On3 rating) and top-15 in Virginia. He shone at the Shayok Showcase and National Prep Showcase, showcasing scoring prowess and playmaking in high-stakes settings. Why care? His rare PG/wing hybrid build (104% taller/heavier than top-300 peers) brings mismatch nightmares and Canadian flair to any roster—perfect fit for teams needing length, intensity, and upside without injury red flags.
