I have had to wait a number of years to even apply for a similar job in law enforcement due to government restraint. Since I am no longer allowed to go back to enforcement because of age restriction,I am hoping to teach Criminology and Criminal Justice , again, at the local college in my community. I only want to teach as an adjunct now, perhaps one or two courses a semester.
When you leave law enforcement , you have to be careful about a lot of personal information such as telephone numbers, residential addresses, e-mail addresses, name and familial info because of the nature of your former work. This is a small world and you have to be careful about such things post career.
I don't know how many times former law enforcement and correctional officers have run into former convicts and inmates in supermarkets, on the streets and elsewhere. You have to worry about being followed home, and the aftermath of such run-ins.
Anyway, I think you get the picture.
