You have more knwledge than I do about the changes that have occured and how they affect small schools like Niagara.

If NU stays in D-I, what expectations do you have about future sucess of either basketball program and if you do have expectations, how in God's name do you get there?

I knew something like this would happen. Division I has been nothing more than public relations at NU. It's prestigeous to say your kid played DI and maybe money follows for the 90% of the sports package at NU. But for the ones that bring the most attention and press, namely four teams, none of them have made a headline this season. We are mediocre at best but no where near mediocre. If none of us had a connection to the school and then to the sports like we have, there would be no boards and no base of support. With regard to success they call that circling the drain.

You see if and when that happens, those in charge will not face suspicion, because nothing changed on their watch, but are they active in the final decline? You tell me.

So do we go to Freshmen who we probably won't retain or go portal with slightly better odds? And what happens to that enormous bunch who don't get picked from the portal? We never have the same team that develops. just a one hit team each year. Then you gotta collect the loot to support this. I heard that some of this NIL money has paid child support. No, not here you hungry wolves.

Many people will make a lot of money going to NU when it shelves being a minion for the NCAA. Smart people will give to NU from a DIII school......or show me the money the school is making from all of this bullshit that would out gain a D-III school. I wish we had a Case, a Carnegie Melon or a John's Hopkins to replace NU in sports.

Like Joe said, athletics at Niagara is just a guise to advertise the University. However, almost no one outside of NY has ever heard of it. I bring up NU often here in Florida. I'm lucky if one person has any knowledge of the school.
