The right coach is EVERYTHING for a school like NU that has to depend on the portal for players as well as having deep recruiting ties. We actually need a VERY experienced coach on the back side of his career to reach the heights we experienced in the past. However having said that it doesn't really matter because this administration does not appear to have the will to sit down and come to this conclusion. Fr Maher brought a personal friend and assistant coach to coach the team from SJU. When he failed the AD chose a coach who had no experience in coaching D-1 and then with that explosion he went to yet another coach with no D-1 head coaching experience.

This is absolutely no slam at Greg Paulus, but rather we seem to sit in a situation that begs for an experienced coach who perhaps can overcome the obstacles created by this ridiculous set of circumstances the NCAA has put schools like NU into.

We had some good years under JAM, but for the university it didn't budge the meter regarding the overall financial impact....at least I don't think it did though I may be wrong.

So you get lucky and have a couple of good seasons and the few faithful still alive are happy and have a good feeling about the program they have followed for 30-50 years.

Then you go back to losing. The overall idea WAS to be "competitive" more times than not.

But NU finds itself in the Indy 500 on a tricycle. So what do you do? Punt, and don't complain. If you don't bring in a coach who carries a little magic dust with him/her it's not going to just happen one year. But maybe it will, but then it will be gone again.

Why doesn't NU entertain the idea of hiring a FEMALE as men's basketball coach? Thirty eight percent of men coach women's basketball.

Why not? Beats pouting after every game and gives the program a real kick in the...ah gotta hold that for now.

See, that's just me being full of shit again.

This from an article in 2012
If you want to now why NU sports is invisible and likely won’t be around very much longer

Same pattern

Niagara has issued no press release nor explanation for the sudden change and inquiries have produced nothing ”

Here’s something.

If folks covering your team can not get information and have to write things they will eventually stop asking and you’ll eventually have no one covering.

One thing is indisputable however......Schools do not have to disclose personnel matters. Sometimes those decisions protect both the school and the individual if the circumstances are warranted. So NOT revealing the reason for a dismissal is the best course of action. There was no "cover up". NU never discloses personnel matters.

Yea. Exactly...

They dont disclose anything

hence why no one is left covering them...
