He was deserving of a modest pay increase and they basically told him to go hell, and when another school offered him what he deserved to be offered, he thought of himself and his family and basically decided to provide a financial future for them. He would have stayed for far less than Hofstra offered.

I fought you two like a MF. I did that because I was 100% correct. It's not because I didn't agree with the two of you all the time, but being as close as i have been to the BB program, and MUCH closer than the two of you would ever be. I knew why none of what you wanted would EVER happen. I told you why it would never happen. NU did not want it to happen. and because of that it never did happen and will never happen.
