Yes. Tesla indeed literally invented the "motor of the world"(indution motor) among many other things critcal to our present standard of living, and I never even heard his name till I was out of college. I heard about him on the Art Bell Show a few years ago and reseached him from there wondering why the hell I hadn't been told about him by someone in my "schooling" years.

His inventions were every bit as significant as Edison's. Good promotion? I think you might be right.

There are conspiracy theories about Tesla, as you may know--about his death, about the suppression of his work. It's believed by some that he indeed invented the perpetual engine (the static charge motor in Atlas) and that the technology has been suppressed by those who would keep us dependent upon power companies and governments.

It's just another conspiracy theory, as you might expect from those who would be interested in Art Bell type topics. Nothing to be taken seriously. Hmmm??
