A CHRISTMAS TABLEAU

A Sister of the Holy Spirit organized a tableau to mark Christmas Eve. When the play began, St. Joseph was nowhere to be found. So, she grabbed a parishioner who somewhat knew St. Joseph’s line to pinch-hit for the moment.

What became of “Joseph” was this: The actor complained to his brother that he was not left with any morsels for the breakfast. Sharp words were exchanged and the elder one ended up beating the younger to a pulp. When the bully brother left, an angry and vindictive “Joseph” poured kerosene on the floor and lit it, sending the whole house up into flames. He failed to show up for the play as he went into hiding in the hills.

And shortly before the play, we wondered where to get the baby to represent the infant Jesus. A young mother with a babe in arms gladly offered to lend her child for the play. As the child was borne up for the shepherds to worship, “Jesus” turned out to be a baby girl!
