Author: Your host Mike Bailey
Subject: Welcome to the first annual Bodgie Awards!

Thank god Joan Rivers and her clone daughter aren't here...lord knows what they'd say about the outfits we'd wear to this awards ceremony.

Anyway, the firm of Price Waterhouse and Fullard collated the votes from the "Best of" thread below and here are the results:

BEST FAIRE: Connecticut Renaissance Faire (3 votes)
Runners-up: Robin Hood and Three Musketeers (2 each)

BEST VALUE FOR ADMISSION: CTRF (5)
Runner-up: RHF (3)

BEST CAST: King Richard's Faire (3)
Runners-up: RHF, 3M, and CTRF (2)

BEST ACTORS: 3M (4)
Runner-up: KRF (3)

BEST INDEPENDENT ACTS: CTRF (6)
Runner-up: Vermont Renaissance Festival (2)

BEST VENDORS: KRF (5)
Runner-up: CTRF (4)

BEST SCENARIO: 3M (4)
Runner-up: RHF (3)

BEST MUSIC: RHF and CTRF (3)
Runner-up: VRF

BEST SITE: King Arthur, RHF, KRF (3)
Runners-up: Maine Renaissance Faire and 3m (2)

BEST FOOD: CTRF (7)
Runner-up: MERF (2)

BEST GAMES: CTRF (2)
Runners-up: KAF, RHF, KRF (1)

BEST COSTUMES: 3M (4)
Runner-up: VTRF (3)

BEST FIGHTS: 3M (4)
Runners-up: CTRF, RHF (2)

MOST KID-FRIENDLY: KAF/RHF/CTRF (3)

MOST ANTICIPATED FAIRE FOR 2003: CTRF (3)
Runners-up: KAF, RHF, 3M (2)

Overall, CTRF took top honors in six categories by itself and tied with other faires in two others. 3M took four categories. KRF took two by itself and tied in one. RHF tied in three categories. KAF tied in two.

So it looks like this year's big winner was the Connecticut faire, with the inaugural Three Musketeers Faire coming in second and KRF tying for third with Robin Hood.

And that's all for this year's Bodgie Awards. Statuettes will be mailed out to the winners in the coming weeks (please ignore the fact that they're just Mrs. Butterworth bottles with a fancy paint job).

Acceptance speeches may be posted below. Keep them under two minutes or else I'll cue Frank and Gumby to cut you off.

Mike

hey! What gives with the immediate announcement of the awards? Where are the variety acts, the big production numbers, the interviews with the nominees? For this I paid $22 admission?

Not even an "The envelope please!" ?

Where is the interpretive dance sequence of the drama behind each faire?

Where are the poorly written and even more horribly delivered "jokes"?

Were techinical awards given out at an earlier and less fancy ceremony?

Where is the stilted small talk between celebrities who don't like one other but are forced to stand next to each other and smile?

Where is the John Williams score?

Where is the disclaimer about the votes being tabulated by an outside accounting firm?

Why haven't you told us who everyone is wearing?

Why didn't it take you five and a half hours to let us know who won?

WHAT KIND OF AN AWARDS CEREMONY IS THIS!?!?!?!?!

Lucretia - all dressed up with no place to go

If that's the case, I know who I'm wearing!!!

MEL GIBSON in his formal attire for the Oscars the year he won for Braveheart!

Lovely slip there, dearie. You get it at Frederick's or Victoria's?

That was no slip, my dear. Haven't you ever heard celebs being asked who they are wearing? Versace, Gucci, Channel, de la Renta, Halston - it's all about who made your outfit.

Therefore - WHO you are wearing is very correct.

I assume these awards were named after Baj, our dearly departed Queen. If that is the case, it's too bad the Sterling Renaissance Faire in Upstate New York wasn't included in the running. After all, Baj was our Queen for several years, too! But then again, this is predominantly a New England Forum, so I suppose I shouldn't sulk too much that our Faire at Sterling was left out. Huzzah and congratulations to all the winners. Theresa

To those who voted CTRF as having the best games, we at O'Connor's and MacCullough's Hitting and Stabbing Emporium offer our thanks. We're already chomping at the bit for next year. Axes and Daggers and Spears! Oh My!
