Hey Mike,
Thanks for the kind words about CTRF! We've tried really hard to push our performers to be more interactive and keep people entertained, even in the midst of less than pleasant weather. It's good to hear they're doing well.

As to your question about the Arthurian change, there were a few reasons behind it. Probably the easiest one is the change in production company. Autumn Tree Produstions (ATP) took on the job this year as the owners wanted to develop a local cast. This meant a lot of things would have been difficult to carry over, as the previous cast was primarily made up of folks from out of state. It would have been difficult, at best, to have them return. The owners were looking for a plotline that the audience could quickly associate with and pick up on while still incorporating their fantasy aspects. The Arthurian legends seemed a natural choice. We've done our best to shake things up a bit and make them exciting for the general public as well as die-hard Rennies who always want something new.

It's a shame you missed the cast shows, I think you might have enjoyed the take on things and the great performances put on by what is almost an entirely volunteer cast.

As for continuity, I couldn't agree more. We knew we were making a break this year as so opted to start at Arthur's coronation as High King. Since CTRF just made the name change (last year it was still Olde Worlde) and we wanted to start a new plot line, we went to the beginning. It is our intention to stick with this theme for years to come and to keep the continuity. A lot of things began this year which will only grow as time goes one. The introductions of Percival and Gawain are two which I know a number of people are looking forward to see develop. Guinevere has yet to even be mentioned and Lancelot is still years down the road. We intend to keep building on the legend with the unique twists that were presented this year.

So I hope that pretty well sums up why we did what we did and whets your appetitite enough to return next year and catch some of the plot. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Stephen

Hey, at least they had a plot!

I, too, am a fan of the continuing plot line. It's good that concerns are being brought up and discussed here. I don't think Rob and Kate (directors of MERF) read this board, but I'd encourage you to pass your thoughts onto them directly. Try www.mainefaire.com for the email address.
