•¤• The door to the inn & tavern swung inward to admit a slender woman clad in simple skirts and a loose blouse. Inky curls clung to the back of her neck, sticky with sweat, and she released a sigh of relief past dry lips. Wiping the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, she quickly got the attention of a serving maid and ordered a cool mug of water. Luckily, the ice man had already made his delievery and the water was indeed cool. Emptying the contents of the earthenware container in great gulps, Nicolette sheepishly wiped the dribbles of water from her chin. Her ivory skin gradually lost its heat-induced flush as she made quiet inquiries about where to get the materials Marcus needed to renovate her shop. Finally she came upon a tradesman, and after a few minutes of bargaining, shook his hand with satisfaction. The supplies would be delivered later today. Ordering a flask of cool water for Marcus, she left the cool sanctuary of the inn & tavern, heading for the main square. •¤•
