•¤• The chair legs scraped against the marred wooden floor as she pushed herself away from the table, which had been cleared of the bowl and mug. A polite nod was given to the bar maid as she quietly wove her way among the empty tables towards the door. A quick glance cast to the newcomer who had seated himself and been served stew and ale. Intense grey eyes adjusted quickly as she left the dim, stuffiness of the tavern, and with brisk strides, she crossed the courtyard, calling for the stable boy to bring her mare. As the young hand held the side-stepping bay femme, the woman fluidly mounted, settling into the saddle and with a firm hand, turned her mount towards the square. •¤•
