Elisha And His Anointing
So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" And he said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."

Then the LORD said to him: "Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. "Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. "It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill. "Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him." 1 Kings 19:31-18

Many Evangelical scholars, pastors and preachers love to say that the whole bible is the inspired word of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness until they come to subjects in the bible that they don’t like or understand, especially Elisha and His anointing, which is the same anointing that David, Jesus and Peter had:

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Isaiah 11:1-6

Yes anointed ones strike the earth with the rod of their mouths and with the breath of their lips slay the wicked for the pen is mightier than the sword and God’s word is true:

So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." John 20:21-23

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? "While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him. Acts 5:1-6

Yes, Peter retained the sins of Ananias and he died at the words of Peter. And many others have died at the words of Moses, Elisha and Jesus. All this is something that many evangelicals refuse to consider to be true. Korah and his friends, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown died in the judgments of God that followed when Moses became angry and told the LORD not to accept their offering. Elijah was instructed by the Lord Himself to anoint Elisha, as well as Hazael as king over Syria and Jehu, king over Israe, he could literally curse and kill people. Elisha had asked of Elisha "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me, " and he received it. As a result the bible records that Elisha did double of miracles that Elisha did including:

Then the men of the city said to Elisha, "Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren." And he said, "Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it." So they brought it to him.

Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.' " So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!" So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. Then he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria. 2 Kings 2:19-25

As an anointed one and a true man of God in the Spirit of Jesus, Elisha pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD on the forty two youths who mocked him for being a baldhead. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled them. Jesus Christ the epitome of love and life didn’t have a problem of cursing things especially a fig tree that wasn’t bearing fruit because it wasn’t its season. He also encouraged His disciples to do the same thing:

Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away." So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Matthew 11:20-24

"And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:19

So according to the infallible inspired word of God by speaking the word of faith and having faith in God, fig trees and people can be cursed and mountains removed and cast into the sea? Now how many people died at the words of Jesus that He spoke when He cursed the religious and political leaders of His day with ‘woe to you’? Woe to you doesn’t mean something good is going to happen to you? God’s word clearly records for our profit and instruction what it means:

"And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. Matthew 23:12-14

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, "and say, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' "Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. "Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers' guilt. "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

"Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, "that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. "Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! "See! Your house is left to you desolate; "for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' " Matthew 23:29-39

So did the serpents, brood of vipers escape the condemnation of hell that Jesus promised would come upon that generation that Jesus spoke about and murdered Him? No! Josephus told us that in 70 A.D. During the whole of this siege of Jerusalem, 1,100,000 were slain, and the prisoners numbered 97,000.

Yes, God’s word is infallible and inspired and it’s true whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. But woe will come to scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites who shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; they neither go in themselves, nor do they allow those who are entering to go in. Woe comes to scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore they will receive greater condemnation. Who comes to those who murder, ignore or character assassinates prophets, wise men, and scribes and they will not escape the condemnation of hell as neither did the Jews who murdered Jesus:

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. "Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Get justice for me from my adversary.' "And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 'yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' "

Then the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. "And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? "I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:1-8

Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works. 2 Timothy 4:14

But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. Hebrews 10:12-13
