Subject: Grooming

I groomed my horses Magic & Finn today.
I started with Magic 1st, as it was a nice day, I took her out and tied her up outside. I removed her rug and put it away as well as retrieving my grooming kit.
I picked up my hoof pick from my kit and asked Magic to pick up her hoof. She responded & I used the pointed end of the pick to remove dirt and stones from her hoof. I repeated this with all 4 hooves and returned my pick to my kit. I then picked up the rubber currycomb and worked it in small circles from the top of her neck to the end of her quarters. I did this on both sides before exchanging the rubber currycomb for my stiff dandy brush. I worked all over her body with the brush (except her face) & made sure to follow the direction of her coat. This will remove all the dried sweat and dirt which i have just brought up from her coat. I then took my soft body brush and also used it all over her coat (including her face this time). This will help to smooth out her coat and make her shiny. I followed this with working the tangles out of her mane and tail with my fingers, a body brush and some tangle spray. I followed this with some conditioning spray. After that, I used my stable rubber to apply some coat shine to her beautiful black and white coat. I took out my Sablene hoof oil and applyed it to the inside and outside of her hoofs to make them shine and also to condition & moisturise her feet.
I put her away and took Finn out. I repeat exactly the same process with him, before returning him to his box and standing back (panting and sweating!!) and admiring all my hard grooming work!!
This wll be my daily routine, but I may alter it as need be
Susan xxx
