Sometimes there is more to music than demographics, hype and sales figures. True, there's nothing wrong with a little success but if I based my musical choice around who's "successful", "cool" or "popular" then I'd have never discovered bands such as Yo La Tengo, Stereolab, The Sea and Cake, Tortoise, Modest Mouse, Dismemberment Plan and Sonic Youth, to name but a few. Are any of the above all over the music press or regularly troubling the top 10?

Are you also saying that you'd quit liking a band if they were unsuccessful and thus dropped?

I'll leave you to yr popular/generic Vines/Stripes/Strokes/etc albums, anyway
