I saw grandscope last night and they rocked. They were absolutely mind blowingly awesome; a ferocious wall of rib cage shaking sound. And they look cool too, all standing there really solemnly, apart from when their bass player is playing bass (rather than keyboard) and kind of grooving out to it. I particularly loved 'Fat Controller', I've heard them playing it before and it is just one of the best things I've heard in about 10 years, quite literally.

If anyone's reading this who hasn't seen them, YOU MUST. (They're playing at the Christmas alldayer at The Flapper on the 28th December. By the time they come on, I'll probably be too ill to care, as those alldayers.. aah, happy memories... seem to involve drinking a whole shed load of beer, with nothing more sustaining than a McDonalds to line the stomach. But I digress...). Grandscope are, in my humble opinion, like My Bloody Valentine at war with The Orb (2 of my favourite bands... thats handy). If you haven't seen them, do, and can I join Zhora in DEMANDING that Grandscope get a website, so that I could show them some electronic token of my massive appreciation for them rather than telling you young Distophians who probably don't care that much.

Heres my top 5 best bands in Birmingham (a la Gabrielle's request for top 10 songs):

1. Copter (beat Grandscope to the top spot for sheer entertainment value)
2. Grandscope
3. Distophia (also ferocious, genius songs and Pete Dixon I think you're really cute honeybun!)
4. Panda Love Unit
5. Audiovideodisco (they rock... its shame really that their singer is such a total arsehole, isn't it?)
