Long time no see, missy!!! ;-)

I think the vibraprobe is great because A) turns itself on and off easily with internal switch, B) don't have to remove a headphone as it vibrates faster as you get closer to the target.., and C) very sturdy and waterproof.

Now, having said that, you probably don't want it if you ever get a DFX. Putting the detector on the ground with coil facing away from you and probing the hole STILL sets the detector off like nobody's business! Gotta hit the up arrow key to get in the menu when you set the detector down.

You do NOT want a probe that detects 3 or 4". The probe is to narrow down and locate the target, and 1" is about where you want it. Kinda defeats the point if the thing goes off from the signal off to the side 4". Also, look for a probe that the entire shaft isn't senstive...just the tip, as again, that defeats the purpose of narrowing the target down. (BTW, vibraprobe very good in this respect). All in all, wouldn't trade it even though I DO have a DFX.

Ummm, one word of warning....fold the holder into you belt or pocket when you run into the gas station for a drink after hunting. Why they chose to print "VibraProbe in big white letters down the side of the holster is beyond me.

;-)

later all and good hunting
