Ok... first we dont live NEXT to them, they are in another part of the neighborhood.
Second, we dont make it our business to go sniffing around peoples houses... what kind of neighbors do you think we are?
And third, It usually takes insects about 48 hours before they start to lay eggs on/in a corpse, and bacteria starts to grow. It is the bacteria and other microorganisms that really cause the decay, and thus the smell... So in short, you wouldn't smell it for at least two days, and that's how long these guys were there before the police arrived.
