Author: Perseus
Subject: *As dark as the shadows...*

*He stands under a tree, the cold wind whipping his thick, black mane away from his face, exposing eyes just as dark and just as cold. He is thinking, maybe even weighing his options. He wanted to come upon the condescending Talmaar once more, scare him a little, but he also wanted to see the shy mare again. He had sparked an interest in her and she would be more of a challenge then some of the other mares he had met. He would probably return to them later, but right now he had other thoughts on his mind.*

The mare's gaze is languidly travelling across the grounds and it comes to rest on Perseus. She walks over to visit him with a "What? The ladies man is alone?" in a mocking-but-friendly tone. She had picked up some of his peculiar interest in her and had decided to savour it in her quiet way. His womanizing ((or mareizing? hehe, i dunno)) behaviour kept her from wanting to get too close to him, however, so it would remain nothing but a flavour on the tip of her tongue, at least for now.

*Upon seeing the mare he had been thinking about, a boyish smile crosses his face. He takes a step closer, speaking in a joking tone.* Now now, you really think I am that much of a ladies man if I am standing alone? Actually, I was just thinking about you.
*While speaking to the mare, he is obviously strategizing, picking the right methods to endearing himself to this mare.*

She puts on an expression both surprised and mirthful, playing along with him. "Me? Why, whatever for?" she queries sweetly, quietly swishing her tail at a meandering insect.

(OOC: sooooo sorry this took me so long!!!!) *Yes of course I was thinking of you, how could I keep such a beautiful creature out of mind.* He smiles coyly out of the side of his mouth. He was still feeling her out, trying to figure out what buttons to push to make her take a step closer, maybe even flirt back a little. She was shyer, much less forward then his last endeavor, Aerial. He would have to take a different route.

((noo problemo!))

She grins and ducks her head modestly at his compliment. "Why, thank you... I haven't been called beautiful for a while, especially by such a handsome stallion." Ah, he had almost gotten her- flattery can do wonders.

[> [> Disgust. -- Talmaar, 18:43:49 03/23/03 Sun [1]

"You're pathetic, you know that?" With an impassive smile, he imposes into the banter led by the mare and the dim-witted stallion. With a vindictive intuition of Perseus' tendency, he derides, "Oh, youˇ¦re so beautiful!", with only a short pause, he resumes, "You sicken me, Perseus. You sound just like X. Pathetic and idiotic. Just do us all a favor and just put away the stick you're trying to shove up her ass."

[ Eee! No insult toward you, Perseus' player. Talmaar has had a huge and bad misfortune with love and Perseus REALLY is being stupid. :P ]

She rolls her eyes and laughs to herself. Perseus had been begging for such a comment, but in all fairness, so had she. "Always appreciated," she shoots back at Talmaar's sarcasm. "It's unusual to have such grace as yours nowadays."

*A shiver of disgust runs down his spine as he feels the approach of Talmaar. He turns slowly, breathing in a deep sigh as though to calm the anger rising inside of him. He could easily quelch this little bug under his foot, even without using magic, but what fun could that be? It was obvious that Talmaar wouldn't be much of a physical fight. He smiles calmly as he speaks.*
I am afraid I do not know who this X is that you speak of, but that is far from the point. Do explain to me Talmaar, how I am being pathetic, I am complimenting a beautiful young mare, and she apparently was flattered by the comment. All you seemed to get out of her was a sarcastic comment.
*He turns his head towards Carcajou, now addressing her and Talmaar at once.*
Not that she is a prize to be won, though I must say that I would feel like quite a winner if I had her by my side.
If anyone is coming off as pathetic it would be you, Talmaar. I don't see why you insist on following me around trying to cause trouble.
*His eyes flash red as he steps closer to the scrawny stallion.*
And right now you are angering me beyond belief, I would advise you to never again use such rude language in front of a mare. I would also advise you to get out of my sight

A look of something near to disgust dances across her features. "I appreciate you sticking up for me, Perseus, but you know, I don't think I need it. Language? What do I care? He can cuss all he wants in front of me, and if I don't agree then I'll be sure to voice my opinion. As to standing by your side, well, I'm glad that it would make you feel like a winner, but I would feel like a loser to be tied down like that." There was an independent streak inside the mare, and it could be rather annoying, but all in all was a benefit. She was not that angry with either stallion, although both their statements were slightly aggravating to her...

((Sorry.. bad post, bad day.))

*He turns towards the mare, lowering his voice to a menacing tone, still quite calm but menacing all the same.*
Pardon me, where I come from it is rude to use such crude language in front of a young lady. Pardon me for being polite and complimenting you, it is only my nature. I must say though I have never met a horse anywhere that did not like to be complimented and took it as an insult. I honestly don't think that is my problem, I think it is yours.
*He is still quite shocked that his compliments angered her? He wasn't even coming on to her, he was actually only trying to be polite. There was something not quite right about her anymore, rubbed him the wrong way all of a sudden, it almost sickened him.*
Again, I apologize for the compliments and politeness and what not, I won't let it happen again.
*He turns his back and walks away from the two odd animals, perhaps they were perfect together.*

His reaction had almost been expected, but his tone of voice irked the mare. "So I'll talk to you later," she calls after his retreating back. Was it such a crime to be independent? And surely, since he seemed so sensitive himself, he ought to be able to see that sometimes, when you hit a nerve, a reaction will occur. She looks over at Talmaar quietly. Suddenly the whole situation seemed senseless beyond belief, and her energy begins to drain away slowly until she lies down with a tired sigh.
