The instant the arrow was loosed, Dalamar fired again at the point the assassin's arrow had emerged from the foliage, this time at the assassin's throat. In the same instant he unsheathed one of his dirks and swished it upward from the ground through the air between his companion and the poisoned arrow, in an attempt to stop it's flight before the shaft reached her.
