"Further information would indeed be a plus - as well as sending a scout. And sending a scout may trigger a hostile response... Which we do not want."
She pauses, after recounting verbally the points and counter-points of the first few suggestions.
"Yet, is it merely the catlings who are plotting against humans? Or are the centaurs in league with them, as well? Possibly the catlings may attempt to gain allies to aid their mission... And we could potentially send a scout in disguise as a trader, perhaps - I'm sure the catlings wouldn't be so eager to turn hostile attentions to a simple, helpful trader... Or perhaps request a catling allied with us to investigate. This scout could confirm this information on an attack... Yet we could not remain idle - perhaps the elven folk would aid us, but have our relations with them improved enough for us to request this from them?"
She began piecing together half-formed thoughts even as she put a few more points out...
"We have a few choices - we could remain on the defensive, and wait to see if they shall attack, whether or not we send a scout. In this, we must put the civilians first. They are perhaps the easiest targets. As Alanna has said, they may think twice about attacking either masters or apprentices, for masters have training and apprentices rarely stray from their masters during training. The civilians should be defended, and perhaps those with weapons training recruited to assist our cause, if the situation begins a full-out war. We could also go on the offensive and attack them before they attack us - which is not as wise, in my opinion... What if this information about an attack is merely a rumor? A lie? Then our relations with the catlings may suffer, if they hadn't planned to attack us in the first place, and that may hurt us later on in future battles - if they don't war with us because of it in the first place...
"All in all, what I'm suggesting is try to send a scout, as so many others have said. One that will blend in with the crowd and be able to give us more information without putting themselves at potentially fatal risk. Whether it be catling, centaur, elf or human, or in what guise - we need to have this information clairified and perhaps confirmed. What we have now is vague. How far along are they in their plans? Do they even HAVE plans? What are their numbers, in comparison to those of the humans? Whom are their allies? I also propose we pay a visit to the elves, and ask for their assistance, if relations with them prove strong enough to allow this. Perhaps we can do the same with centaurs. It all depends on whom the catlings have as allies... Perhaps we could also prepare a game plan, in case this proposed catling attack does occur. A way to keep the civilians safe and unharmed, if the catlings do attack..."
Finally finished after her suggestions, she lapsed back into silence and began considering further ideas...
