yes a mood can affect your reading, so you want to make sure you are not way off balance when you attempt a reading. we all have moods...you cant get rid of that! but i think the thing is to try to quiet your mind, make the time a little special, make the setting special. light some candles, prepare yourself in some way. meditate for a couple of minutes beforehand. feel that the energy around you is stable, that the forces are good for a helpful reading. when i used to do readings i would ground myself, then ask that the forces around me give a positive and helpful reading, you can do what is comfortable for you in your beliefs.

seeing what you want to see can be a problem. that is why you have to be honest with yourself. that is why it is a good reason to keep a journal. the right method you choose will speak to you more clearly. you will understand what it is saying better. you will feel a "rightness" about it. when you get a reading that is spot on...you will know it!

once you understand one system, it becomes easier i think to understand and do the others.

the tarot pictures can be very insiprational, depending on the deck you choose. you have to look at different decks. some decks are just symbols. if you are leaning towards tarot, then i would choose a pictorial deck. you find the one that "feels" right. sometimes someone gifts you with your first deck. many people have multiple decks before finding the right one, or use different ones at different times. there are ways to find the right deck.

for the i-ching, you use the coins...toss them. see if the readings relate to your life, if they are helpful for you.
